International patients and consultations in Arabic
Short answer. If you live outside the United States, start by writing to bdiebo@uoi.com in English or Arabic. Consultations can be held in either language. Don’t attach records to the email: you’ll be told how to send your images securely.
How do I start?
Send a short email with:
- your country and age
- the main problem, for example a curve, leaning forward, leg pain or problems after surgery
- any previous spine surgery, with the year
- the language you prefer
Leave out health details beyond this short summary. Images and reports go through a secure upload, such as the University Orthopedics imaging portal.
What records will I need?
- the images themselves (DICOM files on a disc or as a download), not just photos of films or the written reports
- full-length standing X-rays, front and side, if you have them
- MRI and CT reports
- operative reports and implant records from any previous spine surgery
- bone density (DEXA) results and your medication list
Reports in English are easiest to review. If yours are in another language, ask whether a translation is needed. Had surgery before? The printable revision checklist lists everything.
Where would I be seen and treated?
Visits take place at University Orthopedics in Rhode Island. Surgery takes place at Brown University Health hospitals, including The Miriam Hospital. Traveling to Rhode Island for care →
What should I ask before I travel?
- costs and how payment works for patients without U.S. insurance
- any letter or document you need for your travel
- how long to plan to stay, and who should come with you
- which follow-up can happen after you return home
